Online File Backups how-to
Online File Backups have come a long way in a very short space of time. It’s now possible to backup anything from a few key files to your entire hard drive - completely securely and automatically.
We show you how it’s done using Angel Backup’s popular online backup service.
First, you’ll need to download the Angel Backup software - so head on over to AngelBackup.com and visit their download page to download and install the latest version of their remote backup software.
Once you’ve downloaded the software you can sign up for a free-trial account. Just enter your email address and a password of your choice:

Once you’ve entered your details you should stick with the default options for the next few screens. Then you’ll be asked to select a plan. Which one you select will depend on how much data you want to back up. But don’t worry if you don’t know - just select any plan to start with, as you can change it later if you want.

You’re almost there!
Once you’ve completed the setup wizard you’ll be presented with the main Angel Backup application screen. The first thing you’ll be wanting to do is to select the ‘Backup’ tab so you can choose which files you want to protect.

You’ll be wanting to select your ‘My Documents’ folder - as this is where Windows saves most of your personal files. If you know that you save files elsewhere then make sure you select those folders too. Then you can move on to scheduling your backups:

This screen is easy - just select ‘Schedule a backup for the following days’ and leave all the other options as they are. Then click ‘Backup Now’ to start your first backup.
You’ll see the Home screen showing how your backup is progressing.

Now, sit back and make a cup of tea; this may take a while. Your files will now be encrypted, compressed and sent over the web to the Angel Backup servers. If you’ve selected a lot of data then this could take hours or even days - but there’s no need for you to sit there watching it! You can even close the Angel Backup window and allow it to carry on in the background. Chances are that you won’t even know that it’s running.
From now on, the Angel Backup software will wake up once a day and scan your system. Anything that’s new or has changed since the last backup will be transferred, so you can be sure that your backups are always up to date.
That’s all there is to it - so no more excuses. Make sure you head on over to Angel Backup and get started with your Online File Backups.
